You’ll be up for the chance to win one of several cash prizes worth from $500 to $5,000, a paid apprenticeship in France or outside of Québec and an intern position in a Québec workplace. Entering the contest is your chance to network with other students and to see your hard work pay off.
Last May 5th , 58 graduates were honoured at the 2007-2008 National Gala. You can learn about the progression of their careers by checking out www.mels.gouv.qc.ca/chapeau or, you can visit http://emploiquebec.net/francais/individus/chapeau-filles.htm to learn more about graduates from the Intégration au marché du travail d’Emploi-Québec career programs.
You’ll be interested in noting the variety of fields in which women study and might also be surprised to find out about the quality and quantity of the prizes awarded. In addition, on top of national prizes, regional prizes were given out to close to 200 graduates in over 13 ceremonies which took place in different parts of Quebec.

What women want
Cabinet making, welding, electronics and industrial design are examples of trades that lead to careers practiced mostly by men. More than 200 non-traditional professions or technical trades for women are offered at school boards and Québec CÉGEPs.
New film : Dans les coulisses du Concours…
A film was made about women participants sharing their adventures, and is now available on DVD. Titled Dans les coulisses du Concours – le cheminement des candidates : de l’inscription à la consécration, it shows the different steps of the contest and what women get out of it. It also acknowledges the importance of making a career choice without taking stereotypes into account. The film is available at all professional training centres and CÉGEPs.
